Malapascua was born in 2020, in the midst of the global health crisis, at a time when the whole world was on standby. They thought that this was precisely the best time to start acting and launching Malapascua to the public. If they have learned anything in 2020, it is that the planet has been crying out for years to breathe, demanding a change from the human species. Malapascua wants to contribute to this change by generating a positive impact on the planet and its communities.

What does malapascua mean?
The name Malapascua comes from the Philippine island of Malapascua, in the Visayas Sea, north of the island of Cebu. It is an island just 2.5 kilometres long and 1 kilometre wide, in which respect for Nature is its main philosophy. There are no roads or cars, there are hardly any bicycles, since you can really walk the island from end to end in half an hour. Most people, not only locals but also visitors, tend to walk barefoot on its soft sand.

Surrounded by crystal clear waters, Malapascua is also a benchmark for diving enthusiasts, as it is one of the few places in the world where you can dive with the thresher shark, a shark with a tail fin as large as the rest of the world. her body. This species, which lives in tropical waters at depths between 300 and 500 meters, is very rare and is also in danger of extinction. They only occasionally climb to depths of between 25 and 30 meters to deworm and eat, something that happens eventually in Malapascua, at dawn.

They were lucky enough to visit the island in early 2020 and the team completely fell in love with it. Furthermore, they feel totally identified with their values, that respect for nature, the protection of the environment and the care of the oceans.
